My name is Kitty Scanlan and I currently serve as the Assistant Administrator for Pastoral Care at Our Lady of Peace Residence, a retirement and skilled nursing home for the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Scranton, adjacent to the campus of Marywood University. In this role, I design and implement spiritual enrichment programs (coordinate special liturgies and prayer services, facilitate reflection series, make pastoral visits etc.) for the sisters in residence, as well as offer support to the staff who work at the facility. Previously, I served for 7 years as the Diocesan Coordinator for Lay Ministry Formation for the Diocese of Scranton where I oversaw a local certificate process for parish leaders. I received my Master’s Degree in Pastoral Ministry from “UD” where I served as the Graduate Assistant for the Institute for Pastoral Initiatives from 2013-2015. As Graduate Assistant, I coordinated the FORUM for Young Catechetical Leaders, a 2-year catechetical training program for undergraduate students. I focused my Master’s practicum on bringing the online resources of the VLCFF together with FORUM program on campus—it was during this process that I got my feet wet facilitating my first VLCFF class... When I am not working, I enjoy cooking, gardening/composting, singing, looking up movie trivia, and spending time with my family (I am one of 4 sisters, am an aunt to a growing brood of energetic nephews and nieces, and I have wonderful parents!). I am married to husband, John Paul, we have two daughters—Juniper, born March 2020 and Rowena, born May 2022—and I am growing into my vocations as ‘wife and mother.’ It's an exciting life!
