Rose Pacatte, FSP, M.Ed.in Media Studies from the University of London (UK), is the founding Director of the Pauline Center for Media Studies/Education in Culver City, CA. In May 2018 she received a Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Communications from the Graduate Theological Foundation. She is a member of the Daughters of St. Paul, USA/Toronto Province and is an active founding member of the new SIGNIS Catholic Communicators Forum (SIGNISForum.org), a Director of the National Film Retreat, a member of the inter-faith Religious Communicators Council (RCC), the National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE), the Catholic Press Association (CPA), and a board member of Catholics in Media (Archdiocese of Los Angeles.) Rose was a SIGNIS (signis.net) Jury member of the Venice Film Festival in 2000, 2009 and 2015 as well as the ecumenical jury at the Berlin Film Festival in 2003, the Locarno International Film Festival in 2006 and Cannes International Film Festival in 2019. She is slated to be on the Jerusalem Jewish Inter-Religious Jury in December, 2019. Sister Rose has created curricula for the VLCFF and facilitated courses related to communications and media literacy education since 2001. With Peter Malone, MSC, she wrote the award-winning “Lights, Camera, Faith” movie lectionary series (Pauline Books & Media,2000, 2001, 2001,) and “Lights, Camera, Faith: The Ten Commandments” (Pauline Books & Media, 2007) and “Lights, Camera, Faith: the Beatitudes and Deadly Sins” is scheduled for 2017. She wrote "Martin Sheen: Pilgrim on the Way" (Liturgical press) in 2015, "The Way" A Cinematic Retreat Guide" in 201, and "Corita Kent" Gentle Revolutionary of the Heart" in 2017. Rose teaches media literacy education to teachers, religious educators, parents and adolescents and has presented at the Los Angeles Religious Education Conference the Mid-Atlantic Catechetical Conference and other national and local organizations. Rose is an award-winning film reviewer for St. Anthony messenger (since 2003) and the National Catholic Reporter (since 2009). Her film essays have been published by THE TIDINGS (Now ANGELUS) in Los Angeles. With Sr Gretchen Hailer, RSHM, she wrote “Media Mindfulness: Educating Teens about Faith & Media,” (St. Mary's Press, 2007) and “Our Media World: Teaching Kids K-8 about Faith and Media.” In 2007 Rose was given the "Technology Award" for contributions about media to catechesis from the NCCL and the Jessie McCanse Award for contributions to the field of media literacy from the National Telemedia Council, and in 2014 the Daniel J.
