I am a permanent deacon, ordained in 1970, incardinated into the Archdiocese of Washington. I have been a deacon for 54 years. At. this time, I am now ministering as a deacon at St. Patrick's Parish, Rockville, Maryland. However, from time to time, I travel to Alaska to minister in the more rural and isolated missions. During the past 45 years, I have taught in Catholic high schools, was a director of religious education for a large suburban parish, served as a lay missionary teacher both in Africa (3 years) and the Marshall Islands (two summers), worked as an advocate for poor, hungry people on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, directed a national lay volunteer/mission organization, and directed the Home Missions Office at the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops for more than a decade. Several years ago, I led the canonical one week retreats for the men who were ordained permanent deacons for the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings, Montana. Along the way, I was able to earn a MA in Theology, a Master of Divinity degree, and a Doctorate of Ministry. I have taught graduate theological courses at Chaminade University, Honolulu, Loyola University, Los Angeles, and the Washington Theological Union, Silver Spring, MD. Over the past twelve years, I have facilitated twenty two on-line pastoral theology courses for the University of Dayton's VLCFF's virtual faith formation program. My wife (Arceli) and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary in June 2022. We have two adult children, and four grandchildren - all of whom I had the special privilege to baptize. I have a great love for our Church and envision my life as both a blessing and as a great adventure of faith.
