Beginning with Apostolicam Actuositatem of Vatican II, and followed by the document Catechesi Tradenae, the Catholic Church, through a series of international and national documents, has called for an emphasis on catechesis with adults.  Adult learning and faith formation must be situated within the vision of lifelong, evangelizing catechesis.  “Its main objective is therefore the formation and maturation of life in the Spirit… so that the Gospel message may be received in its transformative dynamism and thus become capable of making its mark on personal and social life." (Directory for Catechesis, 259)

This course establishes a foundation for adult learning and faith formation that is essential to adult formation and leadership.  This course will explore the vision for lifelong catechesis; the goals, tasks and principles of adult faith formation in the context of parish life; the role of evangelizing catechesis for adults; and best practices in adult learning and faith formation.
