Praying with Creative Arts: PoetryCourse Level: Basic

Course Summary

Creative arts run through scripture and Christian tradition. It is almost impossible to read the Psalms, Song of Songs, the Gospels, and the Pauline Letters without conjuring images in one’s mind – one could practically paint pictures, compose hymns, and pen poems instantly. This Praying with Creative Arts series uses prayer through music, poetry, and visual arts as one more ministerial and evangelization tool.

You will listen to poetry composed by persons from different countries and continents (although recited by one person), place yourself in the story, write your own poetry, and invite others to share in your account. Find your quiet corner for reflection.

Practice writing a poem using scripture. You will be required to write and share the link to a poem in session three.
