Rose Parker - formerally Rose Wilkins - was the Director of the Office of Ministry with Persons with Disabilities for the Archdiocese of Washington, DC until December 2006. She was also the director of the Office of Ministry with Persons with Disabilities in the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston from 2000 to 2005. She relocated to Orlando Florida. She has been active in parish life as a Catechist, RCIA team member and sponsor, Parish Council secretary and later chair, as well as a variety of other committees and projects within the parish. This volunteer work led her to pursue a Master’s in Pastoral Studies from the University of Loyola, New Orleans Extension program that she received in 2000. She is the mother of four children, three of whom have disabilities for who she has been actively involved in advocacy networking for the inclusion of persons with disabilities in society. In her position with the Diocese, she works with individuals, parishes and schools to implement the directives of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Pastoral letter on persons with disabilities for the full inclusion of persons with disabilities into the life of the Church. In the Fall of 2003, she published an article in Church Magazine “Being Supportive to Families Whose Children have Disabilities.”
