Certificate in Adult Formation Leadership

Audience

This certificate program is designed for adults in parish or diocesan ministry wishing to design, implement and facilitate adult learning and faith formation for all adults as Adult Faith Formation leaders/coordinators/catechists/facilitators in parishes or dioceses.

Prerequisites

  • It is recommended, but not required, that you take the Our Hearts Were Burning seminar or show evidence of a local course on the document before beginning the seven core courses.

Requirements

  1. Complete the application form (use the link found below).
  2. Complete the 7 required courses for the Certificate in Adult Formation Leadership.
    1. Normal course and seminar fees apply.
    2. You are responsible for self_registering for all courses.
    3. It is HIGHLY recommended that the courses follow the set numerical order 1 through 7. However, we do allow the following variances with VLCFF approval:
      • AFL 1 must be the first course completed.
      • AFL 2 must be the second course completed.
      • AFL 3, 4, 5, and 6 can be taken in any order after completing AFL 1 and 2.
      • AFL 7 must be taken last after all other courses.
  3. VLCFF courses required for the Certificate in Adult Formation Leadership taken since January 2006 may count toward the certificate levels.
  4. Up to two courses taken with a diocese may be applied toward the Certificate in Adult Formation Leadership.
    1. The Diocesan Catechetical Leader is required to submit a letter to the Director of the VLCFF indicating that any course/s was equivalent to 2.5 CEUs (25 clock hours of work) and met the equivalent VLCFF course objectives.
  5. It is your responsibility to keep track of your progress in the program: Keep track of the courses you have taken, and when you have finished the program, contact Richard Drabik with your request for your certificate of completion.
